What a Disaster! 3 Symptoms That Your Drain is CloggedJanuary 16th, 2017
If you’ve ever experienced a clogged drain, especially one that overflowed in your home, then you probably felt like it was the end of the world. But don’t worry – it isn’t! It’s happened to homeowners many times before, and guess what? We’ve fixed it every single time we’ve been contacted.
However, it’s still not good knowing that one (or multiple) of your drains are clogged, whether it’s in the kitchen sink, the bathtub, or the shower. Clogged drains can cause all sorts of problems in your house. But here at Guaranteed Plumbing & Heating, Inc., along with our furnace repair services in Philadelphia, we’d like to help you catch the blockage and fix it before it results in larger issues. Here are three symptoms to tell that your drain is blocked before you can say, “What a disaster!”
- The drain has been sloooowing down – No, that’s not a typo. We just wanted to emphasize how you probably feel about your drain when it’s clogged. If you’ve noticed that the water in your sink or tub is draining more slowly than usual, that may mean that there’s some kind of blockage. Higher pressure in the pipes will prevent water from flowing at the normal rate.
- Where’s that odor coming from? Oh no! Not only is the sink (or bathtub) draining slowly, but you can also smell a strong and unpleasant odor coming from somewhere in your home. Plumbing drains have a special place where the water sits to prevent sewer gases from backing up into the house. But when the pressure is too high, the water drains, leaving nothing to stop the gases.
- The toilet bubbles when you flush it – When you have an obstruction in a drain and flush the toilet, it can cause the water to gurgle, sputter and bubble. In some cases when you flush, there may even be water coming up into the bathtubs or showers. This is a clear sign that you’ll need to clean your drains or have a plumbing company do so.
Those are the symptoms you should watch out for if you think your drain may be blocked. If you need anything from drain repair to furnace repair in Philly and other local areas, please feel free to contact us at 215-240-8610.
